We have developed a Children’s Mental Health Programme for teachers with on-demand access to an e-learning course and 55+ downloadable children’s resources to enable them to design their own lesson plan and deliver the programme in their classrooms. This is an eight week programme, with modules such as Managing Anxiety, Fostering Friendship, Kindness, Independent Thinking, Emotional Intelligence and Resilience.

Friendship was helpful!ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Very practical advice and resources to teach about buddy bench and why it is there – also lovely ideas getting the kids involved in where it will be placed.

Resilience was helpful! ๐Ÿ™‚

I really think it is a very important life lesson for children to realise that their actions have consequences and to learn the skill of self-reflection

Anxiety was helpful!ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Very interesting and interactive. Useful tools and workshops to host with children to openly chat about their feeling and how to combat anxiety

Anxiety was helpful!ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, I found this lesson very useful as it gave me the tools to help the children realise that stress is part of our everyday lives and the key is to be able to develop coping skills to learn how to cope with the stresses we face. The lesson also enabled me to teach the children how important self-talk is and to always try and see the positive side of situations and how conflicts within us can have effects on our relationships with others. I hope this lesson with empower children to be able to reduce their levels of anxiety they may be feeling.

Resilience was helpful! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thinking in advance will take some time to learn. I love the alternative solutions because it certainly cultivates independence and allows the child to be part of the solution through their choice.

Being Unique was helpful!ย ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the fingerprint task because regardless of race, religion, gender etc we all have fingerprints yet they are unique. Our “gifts” are also lovely just some pupils honestly have such low self-esteem that they say they don’t have any gifts.

Friendship was helpful!ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Explicitly addressing the issue of cliques and healthy friendships in this way is so valuable for preventing bullying. I really love the group discussion around the placement and use of the buddy bench, it’s such a great way to have the children take ownership of it and make sure they use it well. I think the children would really love the idea of a unique class greeting too, I knew a teacher once who created a class chant with a group and they remembered it (and used it!) for years afterwards.

The teachers learning experiences are enhanced to be professionally enabling and are focused on the work of the whole school approach (informed by the document Looking At Our School 2016 – a quality framework for Primary Schools (DE). When each teacher delivers the Children’s Mental Health programme to your school, you will be implementingย  “the whole school approach” to well-being as recommended.
